Shots by Miko, more specifically our owner Miko Richardson, has advanced the the national bracket to represent KANSAS CITY MISSOURI for Black Restaurant Week’s Power of the Palate Virtual Cocktail Competition presented by Maker’s Mark.
The call for the best black bartender in the country went out in late June/early July. They were looking in 16 different cities for the best of each city to submit a cocktail that represented their city as well as their mixing skills using Maker’s Mark bourbon.
Shots by Miko answered the call the represent our home base of Kansas City, Mo. Our owner submitted a cocktail named Hot Stone Massage to represent the calmness of KC along with the spiciness we embody.
A few weeks later, as in July 30, 2020 the email was sent providing the congratulations on advancing to the bracket. Now she will compete against Chicago, Detroit & Louisville in the North region category on Monday August 24, 2020 in a live Facebook competition. She will have to make the drink on the livestream, answer questions about the drink and bring her brilliant personality to the screen as live voting is a part of advancement.
We hope we can count on you tuning in and voting as we root on Kansas City, Mo and Miko representing us to become the best black bartender in the country.
